The Mercer Speech Team opened its 2015-16 season with the 41st Annual Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Invitational. There were 318 speakers from 30 public and parochial schools in attendance. Eleven of Mercer's 33 team members won awards for their performances. Overall, the Mercer Speech program won 2nd place sweepstakes in the "large school" division. As a side note, Mercer Speech is in the "large school" division due to the large number of students involved with the program, even though Mercer has one of the smallest district enrollments of all schools involved.
