Each year the United States Marines reach out to local high schools with an opportunity for educators to visit Parris Island, South Carolina. This is one of two possible training facilities that Marine recruits experience their basic training.
During the past four years, the Mercer Area School District has sent at least 2 staff representatives to take part in this exercise. The main purpose of this trip is to expose educators to the expectations and commitment of the U.S. Marine Corps, not to turn educators into Marine recruiters. This is a four-day workshop that starts on March 10th and lasts until March 13th.
Representing Mercer High School this year will be Mr. Mike Colligan and Mr. Max Creasy.
