"Meet the Mustangs" next Tuesday

Mercer Middle-High School’s annual “Meet the Mustangs” Night for the Winter Sports season will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017.


“Meet the Mustangs” will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium. 


All varsity winter sports teams, (Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ Basketball, Wrestling, & Competitive Spirit), middle school winter sports teams (Boys’ Basketball & Wrestling), the cheerleading squads, and the high school pep band will be introduced.

Season tickets for Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ Basketball, & Wrestling will also be sold from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.

"PAINT THE PLOW" PROJECT 
RECEIVES FAN FAVORITE & 
PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS

Ms. Martin & members of the Mercer Middle-High School Art Club received awards this past Wednesday for the PennDot's "Paint the Plow" Program that they participated in earlier this fall. 

Their submission took home top honors in the "Fan Favorite" Category, which was based on online voting, & the "People's Choice" Category, based on donations given at the annual county open house.

DAILY RESTROOM PROCEDURES AT MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL

Beginning Tuesday, November 14th, students in grades 7-12 will only be permitted to use the restroom between class periods during the school day at the Middle-High School. 

Teachers will be posted outside of each restroom within the building. Students will be required to Sign In & Sign Out of the restroom when they are using it between class periods. 

Students will not be permitted to use the restroom during the class period unless it is an emergency. If so, the teacher will call the main office and the student will be escorted by a staff member to & from the restroom. 

These procedures will remain in place until further notice. A follow-up message will be posted when the building returns to normal operating procedures.

MUSTANG STAR ACADEMY 
INFORMATIONAL MEETING THIS THURSDAY

The Mercer Area School District will be hosting an informational evening this Thursday (November 16th) from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the High School Library to provide details regarding a tremendous after-school opportunity that is available for students in grades 6, 7, & 8.

The 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) is a grant funded through the United Way that supports an After-School Program geared towards providing the following services to students:
  • Innovative Academic Enrichment Activities that will assist in the improved performance of students in their efforts to meet local & state achievement standards.
  • Increased skills & interest in Science, Math, & Technology through STEAM & STEM related programs & activities.
  • Character Education programs
  • Career Readiness & the development of connections with local businesses
  • Physical Fitness & Wellness activities


In addition to these programs, students that participate in the MUSTANG STAR ACADEMY will receive assistance with their daily homework assignments.

The program will run after school Monday – Thursday each week from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.

BOYS SOCCER TEAM defeats westmont hilltop in 
piaa tournament!!! 
Congratulations to the Boys' Soccer team on their 
3-2 victory over Westmont Hilltop HS in the 
1st Round of the PIAA State Tournament on 
Tuesday evening at a snowy Richland High School.

This is the 2nd time in the history of the 
Mercer Boys' Soccer Program that the team has 
won a 1st round PIAA State Playoff Match 
(2000 v. Carlynton HS). 

The Boys' Soccer team will play Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic in the PIAA State Quarterfinals this Saturday (November 11th). 

The match will be held at Slippery Rock High School 
@ 11:00 a.m.

Tickets are $3.00 for students & $6.00 for adults and can be purchased at the gate.
